Mandatory E-Filing in all Counties
The Illinois Supreme Court just released an order requiring all counties to implement e-filing procedures by a date certain with deadlines beginning as early as next year. Il_Sup_Ct_Order_re_Mandatory_E-Filing.pdf (13683 KB). The court noted that notwithstanding numerous efforts to get various jurisdictions to implement an e-filing system, most have essentially refused or not made an effort to do so. In an effort to move toward a paperless court system, the court has now issued this order to get those jurisdictions onboard with implementing systems within the next two years. The court also appears to be requiring the use of a uniform electronic system which it will approve. See attached order. It will be interesting to see how things unfold in jurisdictions like Madison County where there are two e-filing systems currently being used, i.e. LexisNexis and PohlmanUSA.
